About HMBA

The Hoosier Mountain Bike Association (HMBA) is an Indiana-based non-profit coalition of mountain bike organizations (chapters) whose mission is to promote responsible mountain biking and to work toward the goals of common land access and natural resource protection in Indiana through interaction with policy makers, the cycling industry, race promoters, mountain bikers and other natural surface trail users.

Founded in 2004, the HMBA has guided the advocacy, planning, construction, and maintenance of over 100 miles of natural surface trails in Indiana. Our members and volunteers have committed thousands of hours every year to their passion of mountain biking, lending to the success and growth of mountain biking across the state.

HMBA’s structure allows each chapter the independence to operate in the manner they deem most effective and efficient. Local mountain bike organizations know their communities. They live in them. Consequently, they are given the autonomy to build strong, genuine relationships with park staff, elected officials, and business owners. At the same time, under the HMBA umbrella, chapters collectively support one another by sharing operational costs, offering assistance in areas in which newer chapters have little experience, and speaking with a single, collective voice at the state level.
