Here is one very close to the one I had when I was a kid in the mid 70s wasnt as blinged out as this but had the sweet banana seat and it was a three speed but I think it had a thumb shifter but this is a long time ago.

and I raise your big wheel and break out the green machine which was also very fun to ride down the hill by my house

How about scanning the photo of the legendary, "jump the Trans Am"? (not to be confused with, "Jump the Shark")   ;)

Thanks Rob for bringing back memories of my old Fuji Special Road
Racer. Same color as the one you have pictured, except my bike had down tube shifters. There were many fun rides on that bike.

I bought the fuji after saving up paper route money for over a year,  but it had 15 speeds, and bar end shifters.  it was sweet!  I still have the serotta, it's in my brother's  storage in Houston.  Only the head tube and rear triangle are original to 1973.  the other repairs were my brief foray into frame brazing.

My dad built me a bike from junkyard parts.  I was told not to do wheelies because it would break, nor do skids because it would wear out the tires.
Needless to say, I practiced wheelies where he wasn't watching (but where the neighborhood girl COULD watch), and finally convinced him that the gravel skid hooks were OK.  Wish I had a picture of it, not sure where it ended up...

Later my brother gave me his '79 Schwinn traveler, which I still ride to work today.  It was 2x's too big for me at the time, and would have to jump off to avoid a bar in the crotch.

Some classic photos and catalog.  Shorts were not included in the gift  ;D
