My favorite was the one I paid for with my own paper route money, a brand new 1974 Schwinn Continental 60cm in Baby Blue.  $140.

'81 Mongoose.  Black with yellow plastic mag wheels and yellow bar pads.  Fastest bike ever.  Cleared huge gaps (potholes), smoked other hardcore racers (younger sisters),  pulled awesome tricks (long coaster brake skid marks with hook at end).  I wish I knew where it ended up.  I just wasted an hour googling for one and found the exact same bike restored in England.  Saved the pics but I don't know how to post 'em.

I had one of the first true full suspension bikes as a kid:   The 1974 Yamaha Motobike It was a tank and weighed about 50 lbs, but it was so cool..... http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/yamaha/  I know I badgered my dad for over a year as soon as I saw it.

I had one of those Yamaha bikes... Actually just built up a clunker from the frame.
My favorite bike was a Jetter freestyle bike I saved up a summers worth of lawn mowing money to buy. It was similar to a GT Performer, but was built in New Jersey I think. Could wheelie all over on it, frame stand, endo, and I ruled the dirt 1/2 pipe we built. I also had a junker Diamondback for trail duty.

I'm not sure this qualifies but, I went through at least 3 Big Wheels as a young lad in the late 60's and early 70's. I would get one for my birthday in April, ride it off of home made ramps, over 1x2 rumble strips, power slide (before they added the hand brake which was lame), etc. The originals (pictured below) had metal forks which my dad would have a friend weld the cracks I'd put in them and the wheels would split or develop flat spots from burnouts by the end of summer.

I needed a new one each year because if I wasn't sleeping, eating, playing army or cowboys and indians, I was Big Wheelin with my buddy Robbie.

I think I'll be adding streamers to the ole gt ss this summer  :D

My '81 Robinson. I bought it used at Westlake Pro Bikes for $330 in '83 with the insurance money from a stolen Supergoose.

Thanks, if this works it's really easy.  This isn't my old one, but it's identical.  I remember that bike like it's yesterday and the guy has every detail correct.  Good times.

This was my exact bike, a black/red Phantom Scrambler with mag wheels.  I loved that thing and nobody in my family has any idea where it ended up.

Mine was a beautiful red and black Roadmaster.  It was the first bike I rode without training wheels.

Most of my bikes were hand-me-downs from a cousin that lived near Chicago.  My favorite was the last one.  Jet black BMX with gold hubs and pads.  This was my first freewheel bike with v-brakes.  I have no idea who the mfg was or what year it would have been.  With the right knobby tires I could could run over an aluminum soda can and it would wrap around the tire and roll up and stop on the seat stays.  Instant V8 with killer sound!!  If I remember correctly I moved the wheels to a newer frame and somewhere along the line I snugged up the rear wheel bearings a little too tight and I cracked the race.  Lesson learned...
