Any experience with a Garmin 301
« on: September 28, 2011, 04:03:41 PM »
I have a chance to get a 301 and thought I would see if anyone has used one of these. I was wondering how well it works in the woods with tree cover?

I have a 605, love love love it! ;)
Upload your rides to garmin connect online, nice easy way to keep track of everything. Plus you will always be able to find your way back to your vehicle :)
edit...I have a 605 not a 601....sheesh!

Had a 301 for 4+ years, awesome. A couple funny little issues along the way, but Garmins tech support always very prompt and I never had to go without it. I always thought it would die in a crash, but despite several mtb, road and cx nasty spills, it never got a scratch. Then, while my bike was taking a ride on a trailer, that was not packed by me, the 301 got smashed by an adjacent bikes shifter. I called Garmin, they replace it with a brand new one for $80.

The only downside, it is a bit chunky and the tabs on the mounts are kinda weak. My next one may be a 500 since it has all the features I really use.

Thanks! That means a lot coming from you. I know it has been use a lot.

I can get a real good deal on this one or I would be looking at a newer one. I am getting it loaned to me for the weekend to test it out in Pisgah, so I will have a good idea if i like it or not by monday.

Hold the phone! I use a 305, not 301. Sorry, I'm awake now.
