HMBA-IMBA Membership Questions (if there are any)

Same here. I renewed back in July but haven't seen anything yet. I am getting my selected magazine subscription, so that is encouraging.

Bump....how do we donate to the HMBA trail fund?

We used to have an online registration, but that looks like it's closed..  Here's a link to a printable form.

I renew my membership every year with my BCBD entry. Last year, right after renewing, I started receiving notices from IMBA that my membership had expired. I emailed IMBA and got them to stop sending the notices, but no membership packet. No big deal. As soon as I renewed this year I started receiving expiration notices again. I suspect the info's getting lost somewhere between HMBA and IMBA.
It would be nice to have an IMBA sticker to show my support, but I'd settle for knowing that I'm still a member.

Note:  IMBA tracks members by email address.  If you have ever been an IMBA or HMBA member and provided your email address, you should be in IMBA's database."

Also if you have ever used a different email address with IMBA you may be in their datebase twice or more (happened with me).  I was getting notices that my membership had expired but it was for the an other email address that I used in the past.

If this happens you can call them (ph 888-442-4622) or email them (Contact at the bottom of the IMBA page) and they can quickly merge your two (or more) files.  You just need to tell them which email address you want to use going forward.  I found it best just to call them, and get it resolved in a minute or two.
 
For them to match your two (or more) files you need to give them all the email address(es) that you used with IMBA in the past OR your mailing address(es) that you have used with IMBA.

Well, none of my other email addresses appear on the IMBA site. Also frustrating: I registered for the BCBD without logging in to BikeReg, so I can't access my registration to verify that I joined HMBA/IMBA (though my total registration fee reflects that I did).
I think I'll just suck it up and pay for another membership, knowing that my $$ is building trails, and in the future I'll join directly from the IMBA site.

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I had been calling IMBA to see where my membership package was (renewed 6/10).  Jennifer Hill at IMBA was very helpful but had limited pull to get the shipping & receiving dept. to get all of the packages out.  She said that there were many other that had been calling so if you are still waiting I would give her a call (ext. 118) and see if she can help.  I finally received my membership package and socks on Friday.  Nice socks and stickers, etc.

Is it best to wait until January 1st to join or does the Membership run from the date you join until your year is up ? Just curious ! Thinking of joining maybe tomorrow.

Thanks gmcttr,,  I am now a member ( I think ) I followed the link to join and it took me to the IMBA. I paid my contribution and I guess I'm now an OFFICIAL HMBA/IMBA member.
I made a contribution to the "2012/2013 HMBA Trail Fund" on Oct. 17th.  Using the "BikeReg.com" site.   I probably done this BUTT backwards. Probably should have joined the Membership first then made the Trail Fund contribution next.  OH Well !!! 
Happy to be able to help a GREAT team and sport.

Is there a trick to getting notices of IMBA membership expiring?  This is the second year in a row that my membership expired without an email notice (and yes, I always check my spam folder on that email account).  The first time, I didn't notice for over six months - this one just expired on Tuesday, but it's only dumb luck and random clicking that made me notice so timely this time.

I guess I'm just spoiled by all the organizations that irritate the snot out of me when my dues are coming due. 

Edit:  I just logged into my IMBA account, and under my preferences, "Do not Email" is NOT checked and "Send Renewals" is set to "Yes".  I'm also not clear on where to go on the IMBA site to see what my membership expiry date is...

I renewed recently and noticed that the Imba site sucks for showing your account info. I couldn't find my expiration date, order history showed empty, whatever. I did, however, get a reminder email.

I got a notice in the mail to renew last week.  Mine expires on Aug 14th. 
Might call if they have a number to make sure all the info is correct.

Thanks for the input, guys.  Since email notification seems to be working for some, I logged back onto my IMBA account to look a little closer at my preferences.  There is one more radio button that says "Solicit for Membership" that I had set to "No" since I had no idea what they meant by that.  I went ahead and set it to "Yes" and will see if that works.  If it actually works, it seems kind of redundant to have both a "Send Renewals" and a "Solicit for Membership" option...

Yeah check out those contact preferences. I have been through the training to use that membership system as a board member and some of those options still don't make sense to me. I have asked imba to put some explanations for those options but got no traction. Maybe time to revisit those suggestions.
