Craig Dobbs: Heart Attack
« on: August 19, 2010, 01:50:42 PM »
One of our fellow HMBA members and mountain bikers suffered a heart attack after finishing a lap at Town Run.  By all accounts, his fellow mountain bikers saved his life by doing CPR and calling 911.

Craig is currently in intensive care.  I don't have lot of details, but sounds like he is stable.

He is only allowed family visitors,

If anyone wishes to pass on get well wishes, you can send a card (no flowers or latex).

Craig Dobbs,
2001 W86th St
Indianapolis, IN 46260
HMBA: Director of Trail Development / Secretary

I got an update from Tom Mulpagano, who was there and visited the family today.

Quote
The good news is the rider who had a "cardiac episode" out a Town Run yesterday is in good hands over at St. Vincent's. He's got a long road of recovery ahead. His family was glad to know more of the details of what happened as the prognosis is even more promising now that they know he was being cared for as soon as it happened. Once stabilized, he's scheduled for open heart surgery.

I think I've talked to Craig a few times @ TR in the parking lot. He is a realtor for Remax in Carmel and is a regular at TRTP.

Best wishes on a complete recovery Craig.

Ditto on the good wishes and speedy recovery. It's great there were people there to help him. Props to them too.

His mom posted this on his Facebook page about an hour ago

Donna Dobbs - a quick update. because his heart stopped and had to be shocked, they needed to cool his entire body way down. This keeps the brain from having any activity. At 10pm last night, they started warming him up. It will take 3 days. Then he will be evaluated neurologically and then we hope to proceed to open heart surg...

I'm pulling for Craig.

When you're ready we'll have to start a heart failure recovery ride series.

Judy Wothke posted something on your Wall.

They will beg...in weaning him from the vent and also drugs in orcer to do an EEG. that is today. more later love to Craig’s friends. MOM Dobbs"

the last I was told was that this morning they were going to try to take out his ventilator and were asking for special prayers because they were unable to get it out earlier.

Update: Vent is out now

Just seen this on Facebook.
Donna Dobbs  - Well he wasn't quite awake and alert but he is doing great. All went well. 5 bypasses and everything is like new. God truly blessed us today.
