Anyone know the current status of our trail????? I didnt ride much all last summer so i missed out on everything Avon. Sounds like the trail some of us have worked hard on and thoroughly enjoyed is in trouble. Just tell me that the advanced trails are still ok and we will be able to ride in the future. Id hate to become a poacher for trails ive been riding on for years and have helped maintain.

Brian and I just met with Eric (Park Manager) this morning and things went well.  He does have a vision for the new back property for us to build a trail around the entire outer edge of the property.  There are a couple of nice areas back there that would enable us to keep a lot of it in the trees, and not just out in the open and flat.  To really maximize the area we would need to bridges (maybe 15-20 feet long).  He does want part of the trails to be a little wider like the front side but still plenty of new singletrack can be built to add some length to this park.  Right now there isn't much to do.  We have one small reroute that could be done in one morning in the back, and beyond that we are going to start planning the route now, and then go from there with work days.  There is a lot of construction going on back there until June, so I will see how fast Eric will allow us tu start moving in the coming weeks.  The front side right now is in good shape and there aren't any problem areas that need attention at the moment, so we will just get going on trail work as soon as we get the OK on the back section.  Brian do you think we need any of the Rock that Paul is talking about picking up on the 11th?

I must not have been listening when Eric talked about rock? :-\ It would be nice to have some rock to shore up the banks, and to put around the wood, after and during the building of the bridges.

Ok! I am caught up now. ;D It is rock Paul is talking about, not Eric. Yes, we coud use some flat rock to armor wet area at Avon.

Brian and I walked the new property with Eric at the end of March to scout out some new possible trails.  Other than that I haven't heard back from him yet.  He is going to send us a map to jot down some ideas, so I am just waiting on that.  The front side doesn't need much right now ( I did send an email today about weedeating Todd).  Other than that the road won't be complete until late summer.  So, we will probably get to start doing trailwork/build as it cools down later this fall after the Breakdown.  In the meantime I will have every 4th sunday off to do trailbuilding whereever, so if some of the other sites have workdays on those sundays anyone is free to tag along as I am ready to help elsewhere until we can get our site going again.

According to park employees the construction should be complete by the end of this month. The contracter is saying they will be done and out but we shall see. Bob when they open I will try to finish the weed eating in the back section.

Todd we got it that day we did the rest of the park.  The only part we didn't hit was the very back woods by the lake.  I have an e-mail into him, I am trying to just do trailwork the fourth sunday of every month.  When I mentioned it last time about the back he said he wanted us to start building new trail this fall and didn't seem like there was much to do for July and August.  Is there anything you have seen that we would need to do in the next two months on those sundays?  I am hoping by September we are in the back cutting some new trail.  But again the weed eating is done :)

Today was my first time at the park.  I rode for a couple hours. As others have said there isn't much a a middle ground between the advanced stuff and the beginner trails.  Looks like there is still construction going on and Sycamore trail was closed, although I saw some people riding it.

Yes, I have talked with the park manager and we are meeting in the next week or two and then we will start having some work days to build more trail in the new property.  I will try and announce work days a couple weeks in advance so everyone can plan.
