Todd and I went out last night after work and cut the logs out of the way on the NEW trail that we worked on Saturday. So now it is fully open and ready for tire tracks. It is way soft right now and will take a while to pack in like any new trail.
We also flagged the ruff layout of some more NEW trail on the south property that we will be working on soon.
The trails were surprisingly dry and rideable last night. The only wet area's are on the wide dubble track trails. This afternoon should be great, with more sun and warmer air to dry things up. If we won't get much more rain thurs. and friday the trails should be good for the DINO races Saturday.

Trail work this Saturday, April 11 From 10:00am to 2:00 pm. Meet down at Maint. barn. We will be making NEW TRAIL on the property south of the train bridge. This is the best section of woods on the new property just east of the pond back thier. I am excited to get some trails in this section because I think they will turn out pretty neat and add some nice distance when completed.

Brian,
Sorry out of town for a wedding back home this weekend.  I will try and make it to the next one.  This weekend I am going to punish myself of the Ferdinand trail.

It has been brought to my attention that I have the date wrong. Trail work is this Saturday still. But The date is April 18th . Sorry about the confusion.
Looks like the weather is going to be great for some NEW trail blazing! :)

Thanks for the great work day.  This little bit of rain will really help "settle" the new single track in.  Thanks to all who helped!

Yes, it was a great trail work day this past Saturday thanks to Darin, Jim, and Todd. And I can't forget 12yr old Noah and my 10yr old son Trevor for their help also.
We got several hundred feet of NEW trail built in this NEW section of woods, and it looks sweet! ;D Right now it dead ends, so its really not a open trail yet. I would say we have about one third of the trail built that will be in this NEW section. So, depending on man power, it will take two or three more work days
to get it fully openend up. I am going to shoot for doing trail work every other weekend right now until we get this New section open.
Thanks again guy's!

Trail work at avon this Saturday May 2nd. I hope I got the date right this time. :-\ Start time is earlyer this time 7:30am and working until noon. We will be working on the NEW section of trail again in the nice woods on the south property just east of the pond back there. If you can not make it at 7:30 just show up when you can. Even if you can only put 1 hour in, it will help! This is going to be a nice new section when it is done!

I think we will have a window of no rain Saturday morning. I will be there even if it is raining lightly. Some of the best trail work at Avon has been done in the rain! :)

Trail work did not go good this last Saturday! :-[ It started off good with five men and 10 yr old Noah showing up ready to work. But right after we did the 20 min. walk back and started working on the NEW trail…. a land owner, across the creek, started yelling at us. He said that we were on  five acres of property that he owned, and we needed to get the _______ off of it! I told him that I was under the understanding that this was all park property on this side of the creek and that I would have to get with the park manager to clear this up. He was mad, but talking relatively clear to us. But then his wife showed up, totally out of control, and cussing up a storm about sewing us, and everything else. So that’s when we just stopped talking, went back into the woods and called Eric. Eric said that he wasn’t certain about were the park property ended and that he would have to get the maps from the town hall on Monday to see. I wish he would have told me earlier, when I showed him a trail layout on a Google map that five acres back here is not park property!  ???

This took the wind out of our sails! So we ended up building a berm to help one section of the trail flow better and fixing a few mud holes. Then called it a early day around 10:00 instead of noon.

As of right now, the park is going to mark the property line clearly with stakes this week. And we will have to change the routing of the trail to fit. This is pretty upsetting >:( because, this could have been avoided if the park management would have paid better attention to what we were planning and working on! Also I hate wasting my time and other volunteers time.

Just wanted to note that Todd spent 4.5 hours weed wacking last Saturday so that is why the lower single track trails are clear now.

Thanks Todd!
