Is the trail good to ride today?

--edit-- 04 05 10

I see the "status light" on the main hmba web page is yellow.  Probably heading out there tonight if it stays that way.

With 40 MPH wind gusts it might be hard to dodge falling limbs, trees and woodland creatures.  We will see.   :o

We rode WW last night and conditions were almost perfect.  A few usual spots were evident, but they also tend to heal well quickly.

I big tree was down right before "lights out bridge," but Jan got it removed this morning.

Go ride Westwood.  It rocks.

How was the rain there today?  Will it be ready to ride this weekend?  I might make a Saturday morning trip and try to get a couple of loops in.  Itching to get off my skinny road wheels...

Well shoot.  I've never been, does it dry out quickly enough at this time of year?  Will it be rideable Saturday?  Supposed to be nice tomorrow...

Westwood drys fast, especially with a few warm windy days.  Without anymore rain, I bet by Sat afternoon, you would be fine.   If it rains again, all bets are off.  Hopefully John, Bryon, Don, Ben, or some other local will chime in.

Can't promise but will try to walk a little of it this evening.  Will post if I make it there.  I doubt it will be dry enough yet today.  Maybe tomorrow afternoon.  Westwood does dry quickly once it settles into its summer drying pattern but it probably hasn't dried enough from the spring pattern to be that way yet.  Let's hope no rain on Sunday!!!

Westwood is good.  The usual spring wetspots but until it rains again have at it.

I just rode this afternoon, and Westwood is great right now! Almost a little too fast for my first 9.6mile off road this year.  Kudos to the crew that keeps the trail maintained.  For all you on the north side of Indy mourning the loss of TRTP this season b/c of construction, Westwood is worth the 40 minute drive.

Thanks for the update...I made it down both Saturday and Sunday, fun Saturday but much better (drier, faster) on Sunday.  Will definitely be down more this summer, probably camp some long weekend.

Great loop.

Saw that the Boy Scouts were camping out last night. And, a trailer of mountain bikes was going into the park as I was leaving. If you ride today, just be aware that the trail might have a fair number of younger kids out riding.

I know the Scout Master for this troop. He called me last night and asked if I could help lead them again, but I have plans today. If you are out there, please stop and say hi, and ask if they need any help. These are our next trail worker/HMBA board members/racer in our sport.

Please be patient and understanding,
Thanks,
Dno

Trail Bosses, please post Trail Condition updates today (4/16/10). I'd like to update the www.hmba.org trail status chart.

Green = All Dry
Yellow = some puddles/slick spots
Red = wet, please don't ride

Thanks!

As far as dryness Westwood will be green.  In fact, we ended up getting no measurable rain yesterday just some sprinkles so it will probably be drier than optimal conditions in most places.

Green Green Green!

I will hopefully get out today but tomorrow if not.  Ride on!
