Hello everyone,  have been looking at the used Bikes out there on Facebook marketplace. Could use some advice on what to look for. I am 5ft 11 in and 176 lbs. I see Southwestway gets a lot of use, would these trails be a good place to start.? Any advice would be appreciated. Can't  spend much at this time. Thank You.

Welcome to the Forums. We will proceed to confuse you soon!

Start with looking at hard tails, size large. Something with disc brakes and 29" or 27.5" wheels. Then go with what fits you best.

Your about my size and that puts you right on the border between medium and large frame sizes for most manufacturers.  You have to ride some bikes and see what you like.  Southwestway has a good progression of trails to get comfortable on.  If your on a small budget you will get a lot more bike for the money with a hardtail and it would be adequate for almost all the local trails.  If your not to familiar with bikes you might see if potential sellers would meet you at a bike shop for a test ride and you could have a mechanic give it a look over.
