2018 Crooked Creek Campaign
« on: January 08, 2018, 08:40:44 PM »
With Hobbs Hollow finished in Brown County State Park we will move our 2018 volunteer trail building efforts back into Yellowwood for 2018.  The goal is to finish the Crooked Creek Trail in time for the 2018 Brown County Epic.  This is a pretty big goal, as we have 2.5 miles of trail to build through very rugged terrain.

So we are going to have trail building weekends the first full weekend of each month.

Jan 13/14
Feb 3/4
March 3/4
April 7/8
May 5/6
June 2/3
July 7/8
Aug 4/5
Sept 8/9
Oct 6/7
Nov 3/4
Dec 1/2

Here is a map showing the plan.  The Yellow section is pin flagged and ready to build.  The orange section has the corridor taped and is ready for State Forests to review.  The white section needs field work to finish layout. When finished it will be about a 5 mile rugged back country loop.  Also the goal is to bring the crooked Creek Trail down to the Lake, allowing the Hoosier Half Pipe to be its own trail section.

Important Update:  Trail Work this weekend (April 7th and 8th)  has been moved to Brown County State Park.  The area we were planning to work is inside the Timber Harvest area and since the Harvest is not complete we will not be able to work in the area.  We will meet at 10:00AM at HP on Saturday and Sunday.  We will be doing maintenance projects on the existing trails, ensuring Brown County State Park's trails are dialed in for 2018

At this point, due to weather delays, we're still 2-3 weeks out from the clearing being complete.  Please stay off of all trails, double track and fire roads east of Crooked Creek Road until the clearing is complete.

They are at the mercy of the weather and the weather has not been helpful.  It is unlikely that the area will be reopened this weekend.

Crooked Creek trail is reopened.  Please note that the Southern end of Miller Ridge is still closed.
