Headsets

New bike 2017 Scott Spark RC 900 SL comes with Syncros headset.  All my bikes have had Chris King headsets, thinking of going with the new Cane Creek AER headset.  Opinions?

I have had a cane creek 40 on my pugsley for 7 years now.  No issues at all.  Not as flashy as King (I have that on my 29er) but very reliable.

I've had a Cane Creek S-3 for about 8 years and it is still smooth as butter.

I have a 40 with four years on it and no issues so far on a 180 mm travel single crown fork, and nearly 10 years on an S-3 that hasn't had any either on a 160 mm fork.

Since it is an internal headset on the Scott you shouldn't have any issues. It looks like the headset spacers and top cap are integrated to the stem from what I can see in the pictures. Must be more aero that way!

They have changed a lot on the new Sparks.  My 2015 Spark 900 Premium has a Ritchey Pro headset on it.

Why don't you like the Syncros headset?  Is it causing issues or do you just want something else?  I don't know how much you care about the weight of the bike but there is a reason that they are some of the lightest bikes on the market and work so well being that light.

Mine is not stock either, its 1x11 XTR, XTR Race brakes, XTR crank, and Enve wheels so I get the urge to change things, just wondering about the headset.

By the way, nice choice on a killer ride!
