Trail Status Lights

I understand you can go to other links like the Trail Guide or Apps on your phone if you have a smart phone (not everyone has one), but I think it made absolutely no sense at all to remove it from the top of the Forum pages where it was so simple to check the status.

The web masters can probably best answer this, but I suspect it has to do with changing to the use of the MTB Project trail status indicators. I know the old indicators had issues, and some trail leaders were having difficulty accessing the ability to make changes.

Like the recent update to the HMBA main page, perhaps creating the link to that information and adding it to the forum page is something that is in the works.

One cool thing about the new MTBProject indicators is that the trail status on individual trails can be changed. So, for instance, while the trails at O'Bannon may be closed, the Adventure Trail could actually be open. (Not that it is right now.)

HA, glad I saw this.  I just assumed they were broken.  Found info I needed (unfortunately everything I'm close to is "Bad - Closed" )

PKemppainen is right. There was a growing issue with updating the old status. The pool of people that could actually change the old system was shrinking. There was growing pressure to find another solution before the status updates could not be changed anymore. We still plan to add the status icons back to the site but that could not be accomplished before the new site was deployed. In the mean time the new method will be much easier and faster to update and we will continue to work with MTB Project to get the status lights back.

We will also add more trails to the http://www.hmba.org/trails-overview/ page and will associate the appropriate trail club to those trails if the trail is not manage under the HMBA.

Stay tuned...

Can anybody change a trail status on Mtb Project?  If so, doesn't seem like a reliable source to get information.

We can see who has changed the conditions and will watch to see if anyone is updating it incorrectly.  Its a balancing act.  Restricting access to update, made it hard to keep conditions updated. So we hope making it easier to update will be better.

I agree with this. I get my rides in when I can after work and the indicator lights were great for a quick check.
