New Categories for Death March!

For 2017 we have added two new divisions...[/size]MASTERS - both riders over age 40EQUINE - at least one rider on horsebackBoth divisions have prize money for first place! The Masters category, in particular, will help divide the huge Men's division, sharing the wealth of cash prizes and awards.The Tandem category has been removed (typically only one or two attend per year) but you may ride a tandem in any other division. Let us know if you plan to do so and we'll have a small honor for the fastest tandem team of the day.The Equine division was tried a few years ago under Sub-9 management. Fett: Yes, more than half the participants (last year) are over age 40. However, since both team members must be over 40 for Masters division, it should give us a nice split of Mens/Masters division.


matt_laker: Other than the now defunct Tandem division, Death March has never had a bike-type division. I think that is a good thing... no hassle over bike definitions. Different route choices favor different bikes, and you have to factor in conditions as well.

Okay, that makes sense!  Now for the Gravel Grovel---how about a Clydesdale division?  Also, I've done it once and can't recall---is there a fatbike category for it?  I know some rode them two years ago when I did but didn't pay attention to whether there was a category for it or not because I didn't have one...but now I do!  I expect to do it again in the future but additional times beyond that will only likely occur if I can carve out a little better chance of "placing" in a category (Clydsedale, Fatbike, Masters that are Follicly-challenged...).

First place was as well. I think Baker is a little over 40

That is a good thing. I think tweaking the cemeteries and bonuses every years keep it fresh and also keep it from ending up with everyone doing the same route.
