Clarifications on the Southern end of Miller Ridge
« on: January 08, 2017, 01:10:04 PM »

Here are some clarifications on the Southern End of Miller Ridge.  With the recent logging, it may take some extra effort navigate the area.

 1) This is the Hoosier Half Pipe Section of the Crooked Creek Loop
 2) Trail D (Heading into Hoosier National Forest)
 3) These two sections of the Tecumseh hiking trail are hiking only.
 4) This is a section of the original Miller Ridge Rd that is not part of the Miller Ridge Bike Route.  This section was reopened to support the resent timber harvest.
 5) Old double track section that is bike/hike and part of the Tecumseh route
 6) Old double track section that is bike hike

Section 4 is not part of the official Miller Ridge bike route, and was just used for a timber harvest.  It is likely very torn up and rutted from the timber operation.  Since it is not part of the official bike route, it will likely not be repaired for bike traffic.

I know this is an older thread, but I think the above descriptions could still be helpful.  But, I don't see any map to go with the verbiage.  Was that omitted, deleted, or did it disappear for some reason?

Also, as an addendum, Miller Ridge, between Hoosier Half Pipe and the top of the steep descent with the water bars, is reportedly impassable with fallen trees.  State Forest staff are supposed to be out this week with heavy equipment to clear Trail D, and will hopefully be able to get to the southern part of Miller Ridge as well.
