Trail Work Weekend Jan 28th and 29th
« on: January 06, 2017, 12:42:14 PM »
We will be working on the next section of the Crooked Creek Trail on January 28th and 29th.  We will be meeting at the Upper Handicap Parking Lot (Top of the hill on Crooked Creek Road) and then loading up in the 4x4 vehicles to drive back to the work site.  If you have a 4x4 vehicle, you can drive back to the work site.  If not, just hop in with some who is driving back.

We will be working in a crazy ravine system.  Projects range from basic bench cutting to rock armoring.

Tools will be provided.

Wear durable work boots and gloves.  Dress in layers as you will warm up quickly.

Saturday evening (Jan 28th), Gnowbone Lefty will be cooking beef stew for us.  We will be at the Bridge House (Old Girl School Camp) with a big fire in the fire place and having dinner.

Please let us know if you are coming for dinner (6:00PM), so Rob knows how much to cook.

If you want to spend the night, you can camp or just bring a pad and sleeping bag.  We will have the main room open in the Bridge House and will have the heat at about 60 degrees.

The Bridge House will not have water, but we do have access to a restroom near by.

The Weather is looking good for this weekend.  A couple items to cover

1) Please arrive by 10:00AM sharp (unless you are familiar with the area).  We will be driving back into the forest close to the work site and will leave the Upper Handicap Parking lot by 10:10 AM.  We strongly recommend that only 4x4 vehicles drive back. If you don't have a vehicle that can drive back you can hop in with someone who does.

2) We are having dinner at the Bridge House.  If you plan to eat, please confirm on the facebook event (Yellowwood State Forest Bike Trails).

3) If you arrive after 10:00AM, here is a map to help you find the work site.  We will dummy lock the gate to the fire road (cable will be up, but the hmba lock will not be locked).  If you go through, please put the cable back up behind you (but don't lock).  Drive back till you see parked vehicles.  Park and Walk South on Miller Ridge.  my white f150 will be parked just above the work site.
