Fort Harrison State Park will be part of a controlled deer hunt this year.  The park will be closed on Nov 14th, 15th, 28th, and 29th for the deer hunt.  Controlling the deer population is important to maintaining a health deer population and preventing too many deer from causing harm to other plant and animal species in the park.

I saw a real beauty of an 8 point buck on Lawrence Creek Saturday. He'd make a great trophy but I'm hoping nobody gets him.

I almost ran headlong into a beautiful 8 pointer heading out of LC last Thursday. Got within about 5 feet of him standing right on the trail...pretty amazing. Stared each other in the eyes for about 5 seconds before he jumped. It was awesome. He's probably dead by now, though. Poor fella. That's what he gets for being made out of venison.
