The trail is currently in excellent shape! The weeds have died back and opened up the trail nicely! With this awesome fall weather the scenery at Westwood is only rivaled by Brown County. The lap times aren't the fastest right now with all the leaves on the trail but as of yesterday there are no trees down (that aren't supposed to be there) and the trail isn't blocked by anything.
Please keep us in mind next spring when its time to do trail work. This year there were some that went and sprayed sections of the trail and it worked phenomenally! The park supplies the product and the sprayers and will supply string trimmers, pruners, and hand saws for anyone who wants to do trail work. The sections that were sprayed this past spring are still clear! We want/need help to get the entire trail cleared next spring so that we can get this trail in excellent shape year round!
I also know of another improvement that is going to happen in the park that will give mountain bikers and other trail users a specific facility. If you would like to help with that please PM me and I can fill you in some more on it. This specific project is my son's Eagle Scout Project, donations of time, money, and materials are appreciated greatly!
I do again want to reiterate that I do not work for the park and have no say in anything that happens at the park. I volunteer some of my time out there to work on the MTB trail like some others do. Its no secret on anything that happens out there, anything you would like to know you can call the park to find out. If you ever think the trail status indicators might not be correct just call the gate house at the park at (765)987-1232 and they can help you out. If you ever want to go volunteer some time on the trail they are the ones to ask before you show up too.
