bobcat update! Tires needed
« on: August 26, 2016, 12:29:43 PM »
Here is a rough sketch of the newer sections of Bobcat.  (note the red  section is hand drawn without gps data).

Our trail builders have been hard a work the last month dialing in the ravine crossings on the newer section and building more trail  There is plenty of trail past the fire road to make it worth riding. Note that it is still an out and back.  We would like to get some tires on the trail to help burn in the new trail.

Look for work sessions in September.   We want to have the loop open for the Epic!

Pictures don't really do it justice, but here are a few.

I rode it yesterday afternoon.  I was surprised by the bridge that doesn't yet have cross pieces on it, right at the end and just on the other side of a blind curve...

A couple of people I met have asked so I'll mention it here, the trail crosses the same fire road twice.  If you go up the fire road it goes back to Aynes, if you go down the fire road it takes you to the bottom of HP.  Or you could ride the whole trail back to the beginning.

Great trail, fun ride!!!!

More great work on Bobcat today.  Thanks to Chris, Ed, and Tad who moved Dan's decking down to the bridge site last week.  We finished the bridge.

The rest of the crew worked on connecting to the big bench cut ravine.

We had the first rider come through the ravine.

The crew then moved on and continued past the ravine.

We are on pace to have Bobcat open for the Epic.

Thanks to Dan Oren, a Cummins Employee volunteer day, and Kevin Marzahl from Spectrum Trail Designs Bobcat now is connected back to the Bobcat Connector.  There are still a few finishing touches, but the loop is complete.  There is a small realignment to the Bobcat Connector Trail, which allows for a nice qualifier entrance to Bobcat and makes the connector a bit easier.
