Canoe & camping spots around Brown County
« on: August 04, 2016, 12:03:01 PM »
Looking for something to do this weekend, would like to do some canoeing, camping and ride some beginner mtb trails with the wife. Just wondering what options/recommendations there are. They don't all need to be in the same spot but would help.

Looked at explore brown county's site and it looks like the ticket but I'm not sure how easy the trails would be and there is no mention of canoe rentals.  Any input is appreciated!

You can rent a canoe or kayak through IU Outdoor Adentures and take it to Monroe Lake.  I know there is a canoe rental north of Bloomington near Waverly that offers a livery.  BCSP, Hardin Ridge, Paynetown SRA all have camping sites.  As far as a beginner trail...the North Tower trail at BCSP is easy and Wapehani may be a trail to look at in Bloomington.

Check out Yellowood lake in the Yellowood state forest. They have row boat rentals and camping. it's only about 6 miles from Brown County State Park.
