Crooked Creek Trail Conditions

Trails are about as good as they get. If you haven't ridden the new loop yet now is a good time. Then head overy to Hesitation Point Bicycles for some barbecue and good music!

That probably wasn't the most accurate statement that I made there.  I meant that the singletrack now connects on both ends so with the fire road you can now make a proper loop instead of an out-and-back on the singletrack.

Progress has been made on a new section to connect the spillway with the existing singletrack, though.  It will be connected before the summer is over!

Trails were looking good today, though the Hoosier Half-pipe has its chronically muddy spots.

Be aware of a couple of trees down.  The crowns are right across the trail with makes it difficult to portage around.  I'll try to get them cleared with a handsaw and will post up if a chainsaw is needed to finish the job.

Mahk, that is the unofficial name for the descent. You won't find it on any map, although it is named that on a Strava segment.

Rode Yellow wood in the morning.  Fire roads are damp.  The Crooked Creek Trail from the bottom or the fire road to the new intersection has a very large tree across it.  The new section back to the fire road intersection was clear.

I saw that downfall as well.  Could've got it all with a good handsaw. Yes it's a big tree, a couple in fact, but the main trunks are not across the trail. There is however just ahead, or behind, depending on your direction of travel, another couple trees that have been down across the trail for awhile. Trail tread was in great shape, except for a few spots on the Hoosier Halfpipe.

I haven't looked at this thread for awhile and I just saw the replies about Hoosier Half pipe and the posts about fallen trees.  I am guessing that these are the same trees discussed last  night on FB.  I plan to clear them tomorrow, Saturday, morning.

And thanks for the explanation(s) about the HHP!

Starting at Crooked Creek Lake, rode CCDT1 -> Miller Ridge -> Trail D -> Blue Creek Road -> part of Nebo and back again.  It was crusty frozen when I started (mid/late morning), but pretty soft and sloppy on the way back (midday/early afternoon).
