June Work Sessions: Tuesdays at 6:00PM
« on: May 19, 2016, 01:09:28 PM »
June Work Sessions:  The key to a fast drying trail is trail maintenance.  As trails are used, low spots get packed in.  These low spots hold water.  When water is held on the trail, the dirt gets soft and tires churn the low spot into a mud hole.  Town Run is a heavily used trail, so it is common for us to have to go out and dial in the trail from time to time.  We are at that point, where the trail needs some TLC.  So we will be holding Trail work sessions every Tuesday night in June.  We will meet at 6:00PM and work to make long term fixes to the trails.  If you ride at Town Run regularly, please try to attend at least one work session.  Part of being a mountain biker is giving back to the trails.  So earn you turn while helping the trail dry faster (which means more days of riding).  Work Session are June 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th.

We are starting Tuesday night trail work sessions tonight.  If you like riding at town run, please take the time to give back.  The trails open up quicker after a it rains if the trail's maintenance is caught up.  Tools are provided and we will head out at 6:00PM.

I will be working on making an alternate line on the big tree that fell.  I think we can make a log ride out of it.  Not sure if there is much tread work to do, but there is probably some trimming that can be done. I'll have tools, an extra weed trimmer, and hand saws.

Meet at the main parking lot at 6:00PM.

If I may suggest for the 6/21 work session we bring string trimmers.  I did what I could today to reduce stinging nettle and trail edge overgrowth in the north loop, but trail side vegetation is thick and sightlines around corners is very poor.

Also a rider said on FB the meadow growth is also very tall and hard to see going around.

Trail work is on tonight.  I have one bigger project lined up.  I also bringing two weed trimmers.  And it wouldn't hurt to have a crew hike the trail to check for storm damage.
