Last Chance Trail
« on: October 11, 2015, 09:50:15 AM »
Yesterday we came up on the "Last Chance Trail".
Anyone know where it goes?
We didn't have time to follow it.
Not on the maps.

I rode the park today.  I have ridden the park before and came across the Last Chance Trail.  Got down to the river and there was another rider there.  Asked where trail went.  Said he thought it was a out and back trail or went someplace near the covered bridge at the entrance.  Please inform.

FYI they where already lining up at the gate for the mass hunt, so stay away from VSP, BCSP.

When the creek is low enough, you can ride across.  There are new trails on the other side of the creek.

Again out and back, or loop to another trail?

There is a loop over there, but you would have to come back across the creek.

The Versailles guys don't monitor this forum.  Your best place to get info would be the Versailles State Park Mountain Bikers facebook page.

There is a long climb after the creek crossing. Last chance takes tou to a gravel road at the back boundary of the park. Hang a left, and the gravel road takes you back into the park when you cross a gate. You will pass a cemetery on the tight. A bit further down, you will encounter the new loop. I forget the names of the trails there right now, but they loop around and connect near the far end of the gravel road, by a bunch of stone ruins of an old camp.

Eagle Trace & Worm Hole are the names of the two trails over on the Hassmer Hill side.  Both need more tires on them, especially Worm Hole (the newer of the two)!
