Went over to Flat Fork Creek today to check it out but....
« on: June 11, 2015, 04:51:11 PM »
The NO TRESPASSING signs posted everywhere gave me pause and I, being a proper citizen, didn't. So next time it is OK to be on the property if someone will post it up, I'll try again. Looks OUTSTANDING from the road however.

I met with the Fisher's Director of Parks tonight.  We are trying to work out the details for how to get tires on the trail prior to the whole park opening.  Stay tuned.

Thank you Paul, it looks like it will be a great place to ride, lots going on over there. Another fine job. Is there anything I can do to help?

My wife and I just got back from flat fork creek. The trail is tacky since it was compacted. There are about 3 place that I believe need armored before the park opens. We just walked the trail but we had the opportunity to ride it a few times while and after it was being built. I spent about 10 days over there with Herman and JB from Progressive Trail Design helping them. I believe it is going to be a very fun trail for everyone. I will be over there tomorrow and Monday scraping thorns off a couple trees and cleaning up some trash. Not sure if HMBA or the town of Fisher is going to maintain the trail. I was in Jamaica the last time Paul was over there so did not have a chance to talk with him. I plan on going to the Wed work day at Fort Ben so maybe I can find out more then.

I just left the trail. Did 2 hours of work. Was able to get all the water off the outer loop and cleared some downed branches. The trail is very firm and I believe it will be quick drying if the rain ever stops. The inner loop or skills area has some standing water in places but they have not finished all of the man made obstacles yet. Whenever it dries out it should be a very hard and fast trail with 12 earthen berms and 3 wooden berms. That's all for now. Oh yah remember every time a berm is built a shredder is born.

A storm went thru the area early Monday morning. Several tree's are down across the trail. Will do my best to remove them and clear the trail. Also for some reason people have been out riding the trail. Guess they can't read the no Trespassing signs everywhere. The trail surface still remains wet but firm. That's all for now

Is there a schedule for an opening date at Flat Fork? Also why not leave the trees down across the trails to discourage trespassing until the park is ready to open? Just a thought unless there are scheduled times when the trails will be open for pre-riding. It is a bit hard to get information on a timetable out there.

Paul is currently working with the Town of Fishers to set up a time for preriding the trail. The weather has kept PBR from coming back and finishing the man made structures in the skills area. But the outer loop is very much rideable. I'm sure when a time and date are set it will be posted. The weather has put a stop to everything at the park. As for the tree's I would like for it to remain clean and clear so when the time comes to ride it is ready to go. I've raked half the trail of limbs as there are a lot of thorn trees which meens there are a lot of thorns on the ground. And I think this trail would be awesome for a short track races like they have at Town Run.

Is it possible to walk the trails, just to check them out?

Anyone been over to flat fork since the last two storms? I hope it's in decent shape after all the rain we have had. I'm free on Friday if there is a need.

I was over at Flat Fork Creek this morning walked the trail to inspect for storm damage. The trail is shedding water very well and us just tacky. Some standing water but got it all removed. The section that we armored is working very well. The trail is still hard packed but needs to get some tires on the ground but Fishers has yet to release it so no riding yet. As soon as they do either Paul or myself will let everyone know. Thanks
