Night Riding
« on: April 23, 2015, 09:37:24 AM »
Official park hours are:
April 1 to October 31, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
November 1 to March 31, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
as stated here
http://www.hmba.org/smf/index.php?topic=5437.0 and on the park entrance gate.
Ok, I had to state that as the official stance on night riding.  These hours were adopted from the general guidelines for all Anderson parks.  However, I have spoken with the park board and the superintendent about night riding.  The gate is never closed and no one will run you out as long as you are not causing trouble.  APD officers frequently park in the lot to do late night paperwork.  Please stop by and tell them thanks for patrolling the park.  Let them know we appreciate their precense.  They have always been glad to hear it every time I have chatted with them.  Even at 11pm at night.  They are not worried about the mountain bikers.  We have never given them a reason to worry about us.  As long as we continue to do our thing, have fun on bicycles, and let the authorities know we are out there, everything is good for the foreseeable future.  BTW, there is definitely no camping.

Have fun night riding and continue to do it responsibly.
If you wait for good weather to ride in Indiana you will be waiting forever.
