Thanks Nate.  FWIW, I too get differences in my "moving" time between Garmin and Strava.  My real stopped times on trail vary quite a bit (almost 100% in some cases) while the mileage difference is the consistent 0.6 miles greater on Strava.  Any other thoughts?

Compare with a rolling measurement with a well-calibrated independent bike computer (not just with a wheel sensor for your Garmin).  Also try using a wheel sensor for your Garmin.

I have a Cateye I should install and use for comparison purposes.  Each option has its own processing algorithms for what it considers moving or not.  If you enable auto-pause on your device, it should add some consistency.  However I have not had good luck with autopause and only GPS for sensors.  On slow climbs, autopause will go nuts because I'm going too slow and it will cut distance off of my ride.
