Trail maintenance: Deberming

Deberming:  This is one of the easier trail maintenance taskes. Even a benchcut trail with proper out sloping tread will develop a berm over time.  The tread gets packed down, while debris collects on the edge of the trail.  This cups the tread and prevents water from flowing off the trail.  This is easy to fix, just use a rhino to cut away the berm.  Typically you would throw the dirt down hill, but if there are ruts in the tread, you can pull the dirt onto the trail to pack into the ruts.

Try to make smooth cuts to the berm.  Avoid creating sharp edges on the trail.
