climb laurel and descend pilot rock...it's off forest road 1206...another option is to climb bennett gap to clawhammer and descend black mountain...i also really enjoy dupont...

I found this website when I was down there last year. It has some good information and includes a few rides and maps, including the Laurel/Pilot Mountain route previously mentioned. You didn't say if you were looking for wild and crazy or slightly subdued.

I did the Black Mountain/Avery Creek trail in Pisgah. The descent down Avery Creek was pretty crazy, with lots of rocks and erosion, as well as a couple wet creek crossings.

DuPont has miles of trail weaving through the place, and from what I saw I'd recommend a map. I didn't have time to explore much, but I hooked up with a local and followed him around. We hit the Eastern Slickrock route that included Big Rock and Cedar Rock, the "signature" ride there. It was a fun ride, but nowhere near as crazy as the Pisgah ride.

I would love a crazy ride but my son probably more subdued. We plan on hooking up with a local. But I'm wanting some input from you guys also for good routes.

A great first day ride is to park at the Fish Hatchery and do the Daniel Loop (I prefer counter clockwise) after that, instead of turning left to go back to the Fish Hatchery, turn right and take the fire road up the hill to the Long Branch Trail.  Descend Long Branch to Butter Gap and take it down back to the Fish Hatchery.  I guarantee you a smile on your face and will ease you into the more technical trails

I second the ride Fett mentioned very fun downhill and the climbs are not that crazy, for down there. For Dupont I would park at the Corn Mill Shoals lot and hit up Burnt Mtn and all that sweet slickrock. I like to go up the far cedar rock trail then go down either cedar rock or big rock. Throw in Twixt and those over there and have a very fun ride.

I'm late to respond but when we went last time we stopped at The Hub Bike Shop in Brevard.  Awesome people in there.  Very helpful.  The have very nice maps of all the trails and are happy to have a beer with you while they mark out different routes on the maps.  Dupont was a blast and we can't wait to get back there.

Dont go to Pisgah then, cause the 4 mile loop around Daniels Ridge will toast you.

Well never made to pisgua Monday. Had so much fun in DuPont I wore myself out.  I was planning on riding the m in pisgua. But didn't have any legs left for it.  So I will have to do that next time. I rode everything you could ride from the corn mill shoals parking lot and the lake imaging parking lot.  Even hit up a few routes that only the locals know thanks to our cousin.
