Mountain Biking in Las Vegas?

Yeah, they actually do go together and we have some pretty sick trails. The dirt demo for the annual Interbike convention is held at Bootleg Canyon which is on IMBA's list of epic rides.

I wanted to start a thread to help anyone interested in making a trip out to Vegas to enjoy our Winter/Spring/Fall weather. I wouldn't recommend a summer trip as most of us escape the 110 Degree weather by going nocturnal. We do have some trail resources here if you are interested and I would be glad to answer any questions or even arrange to have some locals meet up with you and show you some local favorites.

I rode at Bootleg Canyon a couple times.  I really enjoyed it, beautiful trails.  I had as much fun watching others ride the trails, some brave people out there.

Dan. Check out of Mike Day (of BMX fame) out at bootleg. Kevin Aiello rode a prototype KHS 29er dh bike out there at a race last month. One of our our members who goes by the moniker "Moderately Upset Multi-Biker" (obviously not a nudge to the Angry Single Speeder of mtbr fame) wrote a blog about just how amazingly ballsy some of these guys (and gals) are. POV videos are good for many industries (snicker) but they have really been great at capturing the amazing levels of control these athletes have over their bikes. POV cams, autochase quadcopters, urban downhill events, NSA surveillance videos, our sport is really progressing as a spectator sport.

There is definitely a higher percentage of us who can’t ride the downhill trails at Bootleg than those who can, so we tend to just turn away and shun these events because it’s nothing you would do or commit to do.  Like you, I don’t drive 180mph , but I’ll make it to a NASCAR race every blue moon, and I’m sure you will too because it’s entertaining  and a spectator sport.  I can’t play basketball or football, but there I am, sitting in the stands, just sitting, and sitting, watching…  Hate to break it to you, but DH racing is a spectator sport too...

Very impressive video.  Definitely some talented riders out there.  I stuck with the tamer trails.
