jasonhilt, does your group typically meet on Wednesdays to do trail maintenance? Just want to clarify so that I can help out on occasion. Thanks.

Wednesday at 6 is the normal work session day and time.

With all the rain we have been getting, we might have some extra work sessions once the trails start to dry out.  We'll post them in this thread if we do.

Sounds like the remnants of TS Bill will be paying us a visit later this week. That ought to give us a really nice view of how the new culverts are handling things.

I don't think I'll be out tonight. It occurred to me that the IndyParks public meeting regarding 24hr greenway access is tonight at 6:30, and I planned on attending that.

If anyone is available this Monday morning, I'm going to tackle a few repair jobs on Schoen starting around 8am. Park at the upper culdesac near the upper paved parking lot.

And thank you Rick for helping dial in several drainage solutions this morning on Schoen. A few more to go. Call it YELLOW.

I was over at Fort Harrison today checking out the work that Mike Hufhand and I did Monday morning and believe it or not there was a gentleman at the upper trail head of Schoen getting ready to ride the trail. I was polite and explained to him about the HMBA website and how it worked. He said that he is on there everyday. But was still going to ride in the pouring rain and mud. I couldn't believe it so I asked if he could stay off the trail until it was at least yellow. He agreed and rode off. I just don't find the appeal in riding in these conditions. I guess some people don't mind the mud or don't care. We need gates like at Town Run but I guess if someone wants to ride bad enough they will just go around them. Oh well guess I just needed to vent

Maybe take a cell phone picture and shame him before the entire community?

That's not my point or intent but when we as members go out and try to fix the trail so everyone can enjoy it and then you meet someone who obviously knows better but still is willing to go out and cause more damage to the trail is just selfish. Believe me I wish that I was out on the trail now riding. But all trails are red so stay off and let them dry at least yellow. This guy knew it was red and raining but was still willing to go out and ride. Maybe if more members went to the work days or weekends the would have a little more appreciation for the time and hard work that goes into every trail that they are willing to go out and cause more work for the volunteers.

Until land managers close the trails and write tickets like a Town Run, peer pressure is all we've got. Taking a picture of the guy would have escalated the situation pretty significantly. It's not worth anyone getting assaulted over.

I DO have a couple of trail cams if there's a desire to more covertly check up on who's thrashing muddy trails.

Thanks Nate my thoughts exactly. I was polite and calm to the gentleman and tried to explain the impact on the trail he would be inflicting.
