New Frame suggestions
« on: November 18, 2013, 12:58:34 AM »

I have been looking at a better frame and was thinking about going steel this time around as my current leader lh515 doesnt match the component spec of the bike.   Who makes a decent steel 26in frame anymore?   I have seen gunnar but that seems about it for a 26in hardtail.

I think surly still makes a couple 26 frames and clmplete bikes. And ive never heard any one complain about them.

Very little selection available of you are in the market for a 26" Steel Hardtail.  Unless you go custom, there really aren't many choices.  My VooDoo HooDoo (26" steel hardtail) has been discontinued and when i bought it 3 years ago, there were very few choices for 26" steel hardtails.

I would do a search on eBay and see what comes up.  Prices on 26" bikes are at rock bottom prices and you might find some very sweet deals to be had on a used frame.  Probably some cool customs out there as well.  If you were looking at aluminum I would be very cautious, but not so much with steel.  Also, you might check out On-One (British brand that's very reputable) as I think they're still making their 26" Steel HT and it has great reviews.

You may try deanbikes.com. They make few steel bikes. I have a Dean titanium. Its workmanship is flawless.
