Chain Tension
« on: October 11, 2013, 08:08:56 AM »
I am new to the single speed world and have been enjoying my Monocog Flight 29er this summer, the bike is almost totally maintenance free when comparing it to my geared rides.  However, I have a question about chain tension on a single speed, currently my chain has some play I can move it up or down about 1/4".  It doesn slip, slap, or skip so I have not added any tension.  How tight are the other single speed guys running their chains?

I run mine in pretty much exactly the way you described. Just make sure the tightest part doesn't draw the string taught or it could damage your drivetrain over time.
