VBR 13 Mile loop GPS

Those of you with a garmin, no need to avoid VBR anymore. Take a friend, GPS, and some climbing legs and follow our normal 13 mile loop.

Click "send to device" and you can follow the route on your garmin.

Enjoy!
PS...this will leave you feeling like you rode 26 miles at the park fair warning.....There has been a few guys that put in alot of work out there over the winter months, so most of the loop is rideable. Might be a couple trees down but nothing major, if you do find some, be sure to tell a staff member or Gary the owner the location so they can have it removed.
Fat is where it's at!......Tires that is.
Moved to Idaho....:) Now I actually *mountain* bike.

I totally agree :) Some people have complained about having to look at a map so I threw out this option :)

Well I guess with GPS's people have forgotten the fine art of map reading. When I rode
There I had a blast regardless of having to "read a map" every 10-15 mins. This is a cool place to
Ride so much different then the state parks.

For those of us without a GPS, would anyone be so kind as to post a ride suggestion with trail names?

Went there for the first time last night by myself and can't decide if I loved it or hated it but figured I at least need to get a good ride in before making the final call.

Thanks!

I enjoy riding alone and not having to stop and figure where I am.  I just want to ride and get back home.  I avoid going to unfamiliar trails because it is a pain to figure out a 1.5 to 2 hour ride, easier to just keep going to same old trail.  I like getting gpx files for new to me trails.

i ride vbr quite a bit. Probably more then most up here in the city. A good loop there I like is to go up the first gravel climb to roller coaster take it till it ends then turn right up that climb to the fore road turn left take that to cruiser cruiser till it ends turn right up to the fire road hang a left go till you see snake pit sign.(yes there is a trail there) that will run you straight into pine after line climb back up the fire road turn right at the fire road take that till you get to the hoot and hollow sign take that down to the creek follow that to you get to a fence turn right go up smiths velentia take that till you drop back down follow that to jack rabbit at the end climb up it to big frog down big frog which is a blast. When you get to the pond I prefer to go right along the Raven till you see a wooden bridge and follow that trail till you get to the other side of the pond. At the end you see the pond and either drop down that or go across and hit part of I think it's flying Flynn it will take you down into the camp ground them make your way back to the parking lot. That's ruffly 10-13 miles 1300-1500 ft of climbing and 2-3 hrs. Took me quit a few rides out there to figure this route out. Oma side note if you like which I do don't pass on any chances to ride through the creeks(my favorite thing to do). If your feeling adventurous explore around the property it's fun. And if you end up on Gnawbone camp property don't worry happens all the time. If you want a tour guide or riding buddy out there pm me and I'd be happy to. Also night riding there is awesome also.

Hi everybody.  I work with Gary (XBC owner) and Quincy (Q's Bikes) out at XBC.  Gary loves having riders enjoy his trails, and we have frequently discussed ways to make XBC a more frequent destination for regional riders and visitors.  As a rider, the two negative comments I hear most frequently are that the trails are not well maintained, and it is just too hard to ride (too hilly or too difficult).  Well, Gary has heard you.

Thirty miles of bike trails are nearly impossible for a family-run business to keep groomed.  We discussed making one good intermediate level loop with several bail outs to the main fire trail "roads". This single trail could be kept clear and groomed year round.

This winter, Lance (Gary's son) and Quincy scouted, marked, and cut connectors between some of your favorite trails.  This new trail follows the upper ridge line, so once you get past the initial climb from the parking lot, it is attainable for most people.  It starts at "roller coaster" (one of the favorite trails at XBC) and has that same feel throughout.  It finishes with a choice of two or three dedicated downhill trails back to the parking lot. And at $3 per head, it is almost half the cost of a park trail pass!

Many of you come to XBC for the very reason that it is "old school".  Don't worry, the 30 miles of gnarly, leg thrashing, log jumping, leaf-covered punishment are still there, inviting you to come get lost...again! (GPS optional)

Look for an invitation for an XBC "new trail ride-in" within the next month or two.  The new trail will be cut, but will need tires to get it packed down and momentum sustaining.

I'm probably the most frequent visitor from Indy down there and have talked to Quincy about this before. I told him my main concern was to much grooming causing them not to be ridable like all the other normal trails. The lack of grooming is why so many of us regulars go there since we can ride awesome trail when nothing else is ridable. I also feel like some people Have forgot the adventure part of mountain biking.

It would be nice to link in the best trails to make a large loop. I do not mind walking up some of the hills. If I wanted to ride up everything then I would ride BCSP. Gary has a new trial belind the cabins that sidehills over to the zipline. This will be a nice trial once it is ridden in and connected to somewhere. Right now it is an out and back. He has flagged another trail with yellow ribbon at the end of roller coaster that he says will link up with Cruiser.
