Rabid animal at Westwood
« on: July 04, 2013, 09:02:50 PM »

I cam across this Juvenile Ground Hog while weed eating today. From all indications! In my Opinion And from personal work experience with DNR in Washington State.  This little guy had Rabies..
I  hope this is an isolated incident and does not spread. This video is posted for Educational purposes only. If you see any animals in any park behaving in any maner other than we would consider "Normal" contact park officials.  This post is only intended to Educate and not Disuade from using Westwood Park.

Thanks for posting this. I have never seen what rabies does beside "Ol Yellor" the movie. I watched another video of what it does to people also and rabies is way more serious than I had thought. Once you start showing symptoms it is too late, 14 day and you are dead.

On our two laps thursday,  we saw several deer and squirrels all acting normal.  Trail rode great too.

I feel so bad for animals when stuff like that happens to them.  It's a crewl world out there for them.  My puppy doesn't know how good he has it.  He goes to the vet at least 1x per year so nothing like that happens to him.  It's expensive, but I never want him to suffer like the ground hog in the video.

On a positive note, did you all notice how well the trail was trimmed in the video?  Nice work, John.
If you wait for good weather to ride in Indiana you will be waiting forever.
