Westwood questions

I'll be traveling through next weekend on my way out west from Vermont with my mountain bike and am interested in a potenial ride en route. Westwood would be conveniently off of I-70. Would this be a good stop to spin out the road legs?
Is it possible to ride with your dog here? He'll be with me for the move and I know some trail areas are okay with dogs and some are not. Also I'll have my 9 year old son, but he's a fairly strong rider and am not too worried about him.
Any thoughts or suggestions for me? Thanks for your help!

It's a good stop along I-70. It'll make you work for it, not much cruising along on that trail. You also are committed to doing the whole 10 mile loop course once you get into it, as it encircles a lake and on the back side there's no bail out.
Dogs would be no problem.

Thanks for the beta. I've got it in the plan and hope that the weather and the schedule cooperates and we get to ride there next weekend.
