I have been running the Avid Mechanicals for years on multiple bikes (including my current hardtail) and love them. Never had any problems at all. Setup is fast and easy, changing pads is easy, and they are as quiet as can be....

Maybe it is a case of "pebcak"... as we say in the IT world...

Avid mechanicals ain't avid hydrolics.
I've got some BB7's and never had noise issues with them either.  Juicy 3's, well they just suck

My rear brake sounded like a wild turkey in heat. When I would come out I the woods there was usually a trail of turkeys behind me ::)

Only way I have found to quiet my Elixers was to store them in my XT box ;D
