Red until it freezes again
Sunny and with the huge amount of riders who rutted up the trail we don't need more damage.
Sucks to see how many don't care.
We have what look to be rain ruts forming like we had torrential storms.  It's from ruts made from riding after thaw that fill with ice and break apart the trail every day.  Once spring rain comes it's that much more work to fix.

Was fairly frozen still at 10 AM today.  Once it gets warmer this coming week it will be muddy again.
Parking at the North Shelter is closed while they repair the stone wall.

Red.  Too warm to freeze solid, too cold to dry out. More precipitation is possible overnight so a gravel route is the best bet.

Trails won't be usable until it gets a hard freeze again, which puts usage into the Freeze-thaw cycle of being off the trails early in the day before they thaw.

Freeze thaw again.
It was colder the last couple of days so there was more time to ride.

Even with the gate to Pine Loop closed people were riding it when it was thawed and muddy. Please don't use the trail when it's not solid.
Green Valley is one that also doesn't do well in freeze thaw, so skip it when not solid too, please.

Red for the 24th.

If by chance it freezes overnight an early ride may be ok.

With the temperatures predicted on Friday it should be frozen solid enough to ride.

Looks like it won't be cold enough to freeze solid enough until Friday.  makes for a good Christmas and the day after rides.

Until it freezes again.
Pine loop gate is closed, and I think Hobbs Hollow gate is also closed.  Please don't use the trail when the gates are closed.

Freeze thaw Friday morning.  Will maybe last until 11, but the sun is out and may thaw areas quickly.

Too many don't get off of the trail when it's time, or they just don't care.  I'm fairly sure that if DNR closed the trail for it, they would keep it that way until spring an we couldn't ride even when conditions were good until then. Just speculation on that.

Great to know it is more all-weather than other trails, I'll add it in to the list of places to go since I haven't been there in 5 or so years.
Good to have an option to gravel or not riding when it's more variable conditions.
I see it's on Trailforks, too.
