« on: May 15, 2016, 04:16:56 PM »
Anyone have an odometer magnet laying around they don't need?  I need one for my, dare I say....."DARE!  DARE!"......paved trail wheel.
Round or flat spoke will work.

PM me and I can pick it up if local to Indianapolis.

Fort Harrison State Park / Re: Fort Harrison Trail Conditions 2016
« on: May 14, 2016, 08:41:40 AM »
Trail is tore up in a lot of places from hikers.  Need about 3 days of drying before tires hit the dirt.  There are 30 to 60 foot sections that are total muddy foot prints.  I have been out quite a few times trying to drain the worst spots and remove the leaf debris in areas so it will dry faster.
Good news is the places we have rocked are holding up very well. Bad news is the only rocks we have left are bigger than what can be carried.

Moved some rocks we had along the trail to places where we need them.
Trail is in very bad shape in a lot of places...and it's not from bikes.

Anyone up for a work session tonight?
Thinking of moving some rock to areas where we need them.

If no one replies, then I'll stay home.

Rubber Hose:  Not sure.  Maybe frame protection when on a bike rack?  Chain protector?

Screw on bottom of fork is for taking it apart.  There are some forks that have an adjustment knob there, but I doubt that's what the screw is for.

The pin sticking out of the chain ring is to keep your chain from getting wedged between the crank arm and the chain ring if it comes off.

And you shouldn't be asked at the fort nothing is difficult there

For us, no.  But it goes by trail rating.  LC and Schoen are considered intermediate so they do require a pass.

Talk to Paul Arlinghaus about the permint.

I have yet to be asked for a permit at the Fort, but that's the only place I have been this year.  :(

I would get the rear triangle alignment checked first.  I have never heard of a rear triangle not aligned on purpose.

Whenever I have one of them that can't hear, I always point to my ear as I pass them hoping they will get the hint to at least take one out.

I will be having a work session to replace or repair the jumps and drops at 12 PM on Saturday.  I'll have a chainsaw to cut the logs.  Just need help moving them.
Bring a shovel and/or a rhino if you have one.

Fort Harrison State Park / Re: Are the trails widening?
« on: March 22, 2016, 07:15:59 AM »
One word.  Hikers.  Fort Ben sees a LOT of hikers all year.  When the trails are wet they tend to walk to the side of the trail instead of in the trail.  That is most of the reason for the widening.  A little bit of it is due to the fact that the plants have not grown up yet which give the illusion of a wider trail.  Most areas where it's wider will close back in once the plants come up.

There are some areas that were machine built so those sections of trail will be wider than normal hand built sections.
