OOOOHHHHH!!!  Bike PORN!!!! ;D

Since you're editing HD content I would go with the Quad-core processor.  The only real thing your changing between the 2 Macs is an extra 2 gig of ram.  Yes that will help but you will still be limited to a dual-core processor.
Most movie editing programs will take advantage of more than 2 cores, some will do all 6 if you have a hexa-core.  Faster hard drive (7200 RPM) will also help.
As for software, there are lots of free programs you can get, just look around.  Plus editing on a 13 inch screen will suck after while.  Doing it on a 22 inch screen would be much better.

Just my 2 cents.

What kind of riding do you mostly do?  Flat, hilly, or downhill stuff?

I have juicy fives on my Stumpy and they work good.  I have heard good things about Elixirs and the Strokers.

I will say though that most of the stuff was road bike oriented.  There was some mountain bike stuff but overall not a whole lot.
Still worth going as you never know what you may find.  Worked out great for me this year.

I picked up a set of Hayes disc brakes that match my downhill bike for $5.  Hoses are too short but I can just swap out the caliper and handle, bleed it and I'm done.
Beats paying $200 to $300 for new brakes.

Labor Day weekend, the time when I and some friends go, is the last weekend for the lift.

Lower Hare Ball,  gotcha.  Yea I know which one that is now.  I have done it.  But don't plan on it again anytime soon.

Did you hit the new jumps on Ball N' Jack and Power Line?

I believe Lower Hare Ball is now Cliff Jenkins.  It's the trail you end up on if you go straight out from missing link and past Ball N' Jack.  Goes down just after the small gap jump on the road.  Anyway, yes it is nothing but one long rock garden.  I heard they ran the race down it this year.

Is it me or did it seem like you were sitting down a lot in the video?

The race was the weekend before Labor Day weekend.
I do have a video of it here from last year:

Along with helmet vids of Ninja Bob, Missing Link, and Power Line.  There is a new jump on Ball and Jack and Power Line that are good to hit.

I was just there over the Labor Day weekend.  Trails were in great shape.  A little dusty on Fri. but the evening rain cleaned it up for Sat and Sun.
I already want to go back again.  Awesome place to ride!

Go here for all the river gauges.  Select the one you want and when the graph comes up, right click, select 'copy image location'.
In the post click on 'insert image' - 2nd from left right above smiley faces - and then paste the link where the cursor is flashing.

Heres the link for the main site:
