Rants and Raves / THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: August 06, 2013, 07:22:29 PM »
So I have been battling an ear(s) infections since June 6th.  Thought I was finally over it until July 26th when it came back.  Now I am on Cipro which has a rare side effect of, get this, torn Achilles tendon during exercise!!!   So guess I am off the bike for at least a week now, but if this fixes my ear problem I'll find a way to survive I guess.  Hopefully this is all cleared up before my downhill trip to Snowshoe WV over Labor Day weekend.

Brown County State Park / PIP Video
« on: July 25, 2013, 09:52:00 PM »
So played around with an add-on for Movie Maker 6 that does PIP.   Here's a video showing a handle bar mount main video with a front fork view in the PIP.  It's still processing as of 10 PM Thursday so hopefully the full HD quality will be available soon.

What programs do others use for their video editing?  Free is best but if it's worth it I'll buy.

Tech Bench / Downhill Brakes
« on: December 24, 2012, 05:56:58 PM »
So I am looking at getting some new brakes for my downhill bike.  I currently have some old Hayes that just aren't holding up.
I am looking at the new 2013 Saint or Vee series brakes.  The Vee's are on top for me right now due to price.
Was wondering what some of you think?
If you have other options let me know.

Tech Bench / Fox fork rebuild
« on: October 21, 2012, 04:21:17 PM »
So I am replacing the seals and oil on my 07 Fox Float fork,  first time rebuilder here.  I have the lowers off and the dust wipers out.  I can not get the black seals to come out at all.  Anyone have an idea?
It seems to be stuck on a lip or something but trying to pull it inward with pliers doesn't work.  Only thing I have done is pull little bits of the seal off.  I am wondering if i just didn't f my fork up!!! :(
I have looked at youtube and so far nothing helps me.
One odd thing is I don't have a foam ring at all!

Here's a picture, finally.

Tech Bench / Need new rear hub - Fixed
« on: April 08, 2012, 08:30:36 PM »
So I seized the bearings on my rear hub.  It's a Stout that came on my '07 Stumpy.  Going to get  a new one put on, but not sure whats good without breaking the bank.
Any opinions on a 32 spoke disc hub for $100 bucks or less?

Tech Bench / What to buy???
« on: November 14, 2011, 05:54:38 PM »
So I have an '07 Stumpjumper FSR that needs a new drivetrain - chain, front rings and cassette.  I have never had to buy these before and am not sure what is good or not.  I know XTR, Sram, etc...but what model numbers.  I don't need anything too expensive.
Right now I have Truvativ chainrings and ?? cassette which have worked great for 4 years.
Rear cassette is the big problem for me - SRAM PG-980, PG-970, ???  Which ones are good, but won't kill my wallet.
Chain help also if you please..

Go here for all the river gauges.  Select the one you want and when the graph comes up, right click, select 'copy image location'.
In the post click on 'insert image' - 2nd from left right above smiley faces - and then paste the link where the cursor is flashing.

Heres the link for the main site:
