Tech Bench / Brakes vs New Pads
« on: November 11, 2015, 10:49:49 PM »
Howdy,
I want to install new pads on my SRAM XO brakes but the cylinder won't push back out of the way to insert the new pads.

I dialed back the adjuster which should have permitted space for the new pads but no luck.

Any ideas?

Also,
When I tighten my sram cranks down, they bind up and I can feel resistance. If I loosen them a bit, it's better but obviously can't ride like that. Any thoughts? I've tried removing all spacers, no luck. Also, there's no grinding sound.

I'm transferring my parts to a lovely new Kona hei hei Supreme frame and haven't dealt with these issues in 18 months.

Thanks for your time.

Rangeline Nature Preserve / Rode Rangeline today, epic trail

Road Rangeline today, epic trail.
Very challenging and technical.

No wet spots except for the creek crossing. (Which was nicely brick armored. Kudos)

Did 3 laps with a buddy and the trail is in perfect conditions as of 4PM EST 1 April.

Tech Bench / Tubeless and Air Compressors
« on: July 27, 2014, 11:19:27 PM »
Hi,
I switched to Tubeless this season, so far it seems great.
My only problem is with inflating a tire.

My neighbor has an air compressor with a high flow capacity that works after a while on a tire but what is your experience with compressors and tubeless?

I'm scoping some models of compressors at the hardware store but not sure which one would work best.

Any experience out there on inflating a tire with stan's tubeless goo?

Floor pumps don't work but I need a long-term solution.

Thanks
Greg

Racing...from the novice to seasoned / Sub 22 Race rig
« on: June 11, 2014, 09:06:28 AM »
Hello all,
So, I returned to racing last August at Logansport and love it so much I want to build up a race rig that's 22 pounds or less.

Right now my Stumpy is 27.2, not a very competitive race weight if I want to return to Expert racing. (Haven't raced Expert since they called it that years ago.)

The frames I'm considering are: (No particular order)
- Konda Hei Hei Supreme (4.4 Lbs)
- S-Works Epic Carbon (>5 Lbs)
- Cannondale Trigger (<5 Lbs)
- Trek Fuel
- Pivot Mach 429 Carbon (6 Lbs!)
- Niner R.I.P. 9 RDO Carbon (5+ Lbs)
- Rocky Mountain Element RSL (5+ Lbs)
- Ibis Ripley (5.5 Lbs)
- Ellsworth (Too heavy and over-priced)

I'm leaning toward FS but a hardtail is not out of the question.
I'd have to re-tool my handling though.

So, any experience with one of the above frames?

Price range is 3K or less.
Any input?

Greg
