Ground was wet when I got off work on west side at 5am this morning. Curious as to how the trail is.

I saw that poodle.

Went out yesterday with Sam. At 84 she made almost 4 miles like a trooper.

Was a little muddier in spots than I thought it would have been. Cops were called on someone shooting on south side. Cops seem to not care about the funny cigarettes around all the little kids though.

The leaning tree was cleared very nicely.

SS Ric, I took you as how you came across and so have many I shared your post with.

I raced quads for years and never ran over anyone and got out of peoples way over the loud noises. I do see your point but I try and have respect for other riders and always say hello when passing.

There is a grant in queue that will rebuild most of the main parks trails and open up a lot more trail to mountain bikes.  The grant also has funds for signage.  But I can't spend the money till the grant until I get construction approval.  That is a long story and things have taken over a year longer than expected.  But I and the DNR are standing on top of the folks with the last remaining talks needed for approval.  At this point I would ask for a bit more patience.  Once the grant is approved, I will immediately place a large order for signage.

Paul

I spent some time today reading this forum and I am now up to date on the future projects. I want to thank all involved in your efforts as you have put more in than you anticipated. I am eager to help and ride.

I just found the map as I am new to the forum. I think this is a very good example of how signage needs updated at the park as I certainly would not have been riding there should I have known.

What can I do to help? What can we do to get the south side of the park authorized for MB riding? I can help with tress at the trail too. I have a lot of equipment.

Maybe I can help build an INFO center like Trail Run has were we can post a map of the park.

first time riding @ SWW in a long time and I have two questions;
A) Does anyone of importance know about the 8" tree leaning over the trail on the south edge of "Raccoon Ravine"? It's not rideable and barely walkable and the high side of the bench cut is being compromised.
2) I saw a rider that looked like he knew what he was doing (fully clad in lycra tights and long sleeved jersey on a FS Niner) headed to the river side of the levee. I would have asked him what he was doing but apparently he had his IPOD cranked to ELEVEN  :o >:( ??? Is that area open to mtbers now?

Otherwise, the trail was fantastic.
Might have been me. My IPOD WAS not cranked to 11 though. I am new and did not see any posting of where we could not ride. Everywhere I have ridden looks like others have. Sorry if I have done wrong as I love the park. Better posting in the park may help others know where they are to go and not to go as I have raced quads xc for a long time and I am familiar with trails. Is there a map of where to ride and where not to ride?
