Brown County State Park / Re: What happened to Gnawbonelefty
« on: July 28, 2013, 08:02:01 PM »
Agreed. The moderators have to make sure the site is newbie friendly and not clickish to the point of pushing people away. When I started this site I caught flack from a member. I am still not happy about it.

That is exactly what I told the neighbor kid who told me I could not ride at brown county anymore because I could not die on him. If I could go doing what I love, in a place as beautiful as brown county, and with the people I love, then I would have lived life to the fullest. I told him I wanted him to learn to live life the same way.

I was just starting on the trail when it happened. My heart goes out to the family, to the biker I passed who did CPR for 20 minutes, and to those involved. I know it can be tough.

It was an absolutely beautiful day. RIP fellow MTBer

Trail is in great shape. I would say green. There is a tree down on the north loop. There are several others that are over the trail that keep inching their way down. When is the next chain saw class?

Anyone know if the trees were cleared? I may take a hand saw out next time to clear them if they are not.

Thanks for posting this. I have never seen what rabies does beside "Ol Yellor" the movie. I watched another video of what it does to people also and rabies is way more serious than I had thought. Once you start showing symptoms it is too late, 14 day and you are dead.

There is a tree down on the Levy. A couple soft spots but I had barely any dirt on the frame when done.

This rain sucks. I hope it dries up enough to ride tomorrow.

Southwestway Park / SWW Trail RTP Grant trail expansion

Anyone abe to point me to a current trail map?  Thanks.  David Krahulik

While this is the wrong thread for this, there is a new loop that is a hare over 1 mile. They got this in a little while back but it is a nice addition to the loop.

Can we get the Forum link at the top header of the main page? You might put the IMBA and a donation link there too. When directing people to this sight they have to search down into a paragraph to find the forum link.

Is the forum capable of a phone app? I had a forum for quads and it was. We could update trail conditions a lot easier.

If you need help with the site or money to upgrade it I am here and I imagine others would be willing to chip in also.

Thanks for all your hard work!

I rode after the small rain we had tonight. Trail was great. a couple slick spots and places where mud pits are forming. They should be dried up soon.

Rants and Raves / Kuat 2 Bike NV Rack (RAVE)
« on: June 17, 2013, 02:31:50 AM »
After purchasing my Stump Jumper Full Suspension I started searching for a rack of quality since I did not want to see my baby go bouncing down the road behind me. The Stump Jumpers frame being twisted to the point of not easily using a frame rack I had my sight set on the a tire mount style. I saw a few and read several reviews. While the Kuat was the most expensive I saw some things it had others did not that helped me take the plunge. For instance, it comes with a hitch pin lock which uses the same key as the retractable locking cable to lock the bikes to the carrier. I do not have a work stand and this rack has one built into it. I opted for the 2 inch receiver unit so I can eventually upgrade it to carry 4 bikes. While some Amazon reviews say the anti rattle mechanism never works, I have have to disagree. Many time I have forgot to loosen it while trying to remove the carrier and it is TIGHTLY held in the hitch with just this mechanism. I did unscrew it too far once and had issues getting the mechanism to tighten. I easily fixed the problem by threading the rod into the block. The design of the lock is so nice I want to make an extension that uses the same pieces. My jeeps spare tire requires me to use the extension.

Durability. I have used this for at least six months and left it on in the weather. The frame is mostly aluminum. I drove to Florida and back with it and the stumpy behind the jeep. Besides a few road rash chips it help up great.

I figured I would say something since I had a hard time making up my mind and I am pretty happy with the purchase.

I sent out detailed messages to all my FB friends and XC Dirt bike and quad racers I know of and ended up with getting 4 votes from people who replied to me. Maybe everyone can do this.

my message I used:
I try not to ask much from people but please like the Bell site and vote for the brown county trail system in the flow trail. If HMBA wins this grant I think Bell which is a company will donate 100k to build the new mountain bike trail there. You may not mountain bike but this will bring people to BC from all over the country. This is free money that will improve BC. I believe you need to be on a PC to do this as some friends have had issue on their smart phone apps. [/color]https://www.facebook.com/BellBikeHelmets?sk=app_228716427271717&app_data
