Rode Avon today, the trail seemed to be drying out very well. But there were a few things wrong with the conditions of the trail. First off the down hill that at one time was called Gambles Run next to highway 36 seems to be eroding at the drainage portion. There was also about 5 or 6 trees down. If anyone knows of any way to lead a work session at Avon to take care of these issues, I'd be very interested.

Sorry if I'm a little late, But you can always contact a land manager about building a trail in the Monticello. I know when I proposed a trail west of Indianapolis in between Terre Haute and Indy, the park board got pretty excited about it. We were able to start construction on the trail in less then a year. Plus if your interested in proposing a trail for the Monticello area, I could always help. I do know a former land manager and HMBA I think could help as well.

I have good news and bad news about the Avon trails.
The good news is the trails at least until the rain hits should be pretty dry and good to ride.
The bad news is there are lots of trees down. A series of trees seems to be down on the flying Bryan trail near the larger bridge stair jump. The trail closest to the softball fields in between the field and the bridge and the end of poplar pass are both unridable due to many fallen trees.
If anyone is interested in leading a trail clean up session for these trees and it's been OK'd with the land manager please let me know, I'd love to help.

I'll be there with my bike. Heard lots of great things about the construction of GBP at the last TRTP work session.

I will be a little more pessimistic about this than the other posts - it's not going to happen. Not with an unresolved lawsuit involving a rider's death on a wooden feature in that very park.
Something else I think allot of people don't realize. Is one of the most important parts of being a good trail steward is going to lots of other work sessions for different projects.

I think Avon needs a trail Steward. Max seems like a great candidate. And I'd like to see more technical wooden options and jumps at Avon. If possible I also wouldn't mind the park bringing back that huge downhill drop they had in 2012.

Will the online survey contain any sections on indoor mountain biking? One thing I mentioned when I attended a meeting with a few members from HMBA at Warren Township was an underground mountain bike park.

Note, the 202 N. Alabama meeting is at 11:30 a.m. and the 2345 Pagoda meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Another meeting has been added at Washington Park Family Center, 3130 E. 30th St., at 6:30 p.m. The Washington Park one would be a good meeting to go to, since there is a project, in the planning stage, to build a bike park at Washington Park. IMPD (John Wall) is working on this project.
I heard about this project at the Monday meeting in the Warren township. Given Mr. Wall's target market (IE kids ages 12-19) (I'm not saying that's the target market, I'm just saying that's what it seems like the target market is based on what I heard the Warren Township meeting before the meeting/presentation officially started). I think (if possible) some type of skate park should be incorporated into the plan along with a good course for BMX riders. And I'm only saying this, because I think it will get more support for the project from other parties outside the mountain biking community based on what I've heard is the target market age group.

Are you going to be at any of the meetings tonight?
