Not sure if I will be there yet.  If me or anyone else arrives late, should we grab a tool in the parking lot or will you have everything necessary at the work site?

Just to clarify, I think "no" is the correct answer. I did the breakdown last year and it clearly is worth a substantial fee, which would eliminate any tax deduction.

Just noticed the link is not working. If the explanation did not answer your question, let me know and I will find one that works.

Glad to hear he will be ok, even if it takes a while to recover.  He did not look good when the truck took him out on the fire road.

Paul, just a curiosity question...is the entry fee for the breakdown tax deductible as a donation to HMBA?

Only if you can claim that the amount paid exceeds the fair market value of the benefit received.  Even then, it would only be the difference between the cost and value received.  I think it would be pretty risky to claim that the value you receive from the event is less than what is paid.

I need to get out to SWW for a run soon.  I headed up to Eagle Creek today and ran the Planet Adventure night race course on the east side.  I will be down in Morgan Monroe for the run on Saturday.  I will only be tackling 10.

Ok, IF I decide to accept the trouble I will get in with my wife for purchasing tires the day after Christmas:

1) How much should I expect to spend for a decent set of tires for winter riding?

2) If I buy new tires, will anyone still be out riding after lunch?

(I still have not ruled out the possibility of giving it a go in the morning with what I have)

This sounds like fun, but I don't feel good about the tires I have.  I am still using the Specialized Fast Track tires that came with the bike.  Went out in the garage for a few minutes and stared at them trying to convince myself I can get by with them.  I could only laugh at myself for even considering it.  If I show up, expect me to spend some time on the ground.

Back in Illinois visiting family for Thanksgiving.  Looking forward to coming over and showing my wife the trails this afternoon.

I am heading out of town for Thanksgiving, so I will not be around during that time.

Over the past couple of weeks,  I've cut out 7 trees over the trail,  there is one more I'd like to get.  no it doesn't change the overall difficulty of the trail,  the cuts were either mandatory hike a bikes,  or made to keep the obstacles in line with the overall feel of the section.  In short,  taking the logs out did not make the trail any easier, I think it just made it a bit more fun.  there is one more tree i'd like to get.

I wouldn't mind having a volunteer or two come and walk the trail with me and re-define some benches in critical areas, again not to make it any easier,  just to keep it from becoming any harder.  If you have some time next weekend, let me know.

If no trail maintenance experience is necessary, I would be willing to help.  My wife and I got our first mountain bikes in June and it is time to start helping out.

Here is the best video that I have seen to get a feel of the challenges Schooner Trace presents to those good or foolish enough to take it on!

Was so cool watching this after hiking Schooner with my wife yesterday.  It adds something to the video with the layout of the trail fresh in my mind.
