Fort Harrison State Park / Rogue trail at Pipe Dream
« on: July 09, 2013, 11:18:43 PM »
I've noticed a new rogue trail connecting to Schoen right past the concrete culvert in the Pipe Dream area.
PLEASE, if you are using this trail, STOP!  The last thing that mountain bikers need to be accused of is the creation of "back door" access trails into the park.

For anyone wanting to use V-brakes with road-style brifters ...these are the way to go.

Rants and Raves / The Shimano way....
« on: February 10, 2013, 09:33:57 PM »
While I was repacking the bearings on an old shimano hub, I got wondering why Shimano still uses loose bearings instead of cartridge bearings.  I also wondered why they still use break-off pins for their chains.  I would like to hear if anyone knows why shimano does things their own way.

Great urban trail system with about 300 feet of elevation change. Lots of rocks and roots. Good stuff.

General Trail Information / Difference?

This may be a silly question, but what is the difference between a "HMBA Trail" and the "Other Great Indiana Trails"?

Fort Harrison State Park / Unauthorized Trail Modifications
« on: August 15, 2011, 10:17:24 AM »
Unauthorized Trail Modifications are NOT allowed.  Specifically the cutting down/removing of trail side trees.   The trail was painstaking laid up to minimize the impact to the environment, and where possible, saplings were avoided to allow them to grow.  So don't be an ARMHOLE and cut down or damage any of the trees that are along the trail, regardless if YOU feel that they are in your way.  If you have a legitimate concern about a tree, rock or any other feature along the trail that you feel needs to be modified, please raise the issue here on this forum.  Or better yet, show up at the weekly trail building sessions (most Saturdays at 8:00) and raise the issue. The Fort Ben Trail Crew will be happy to discuss these concerns and if it is felt that they are valid, we will make the modification to the trail.

Like Huff has said on another thread, Schoen Creek is an INTERMEDIATE TRAIL and it does have a goodly number of TECHNICAL FEATURES. Slow down and enjoy them.

Don't CHANGE the trail, let the trail CHANGE you!

Dry and dusty...pray for rain

.....spending 10 minutes carefully examining your chain looking for the bleeding  Powerlink before you realize that the chain, in fact, HAS NO POWERLINK?
