Saw the entrance to the Last Chance trail during the race on Sunday. Out of curiosity, what type of bridge designs are being considered for the creek crossing?

Really enjoyed the DINO race last weekend, but had a quick trail question. On the new single track section on the north end just past the firetower, we passed what looked like a rock formation with water seeping out of it. The opening in the rock almost seemed man made. Any idea what that was?

I believe if the park is Red/closed, there is no racing.

Ditto on what Dave and Fett said, and I will add my two cents.

The start at TRTP is a little interesting, as you start on the gravel road behind the parking lot. The "road" goes over two short hills, and I would be careful on the second one. I've seen people go over the top and then over the bars because they had a lot of speed and were not prepared for it and go flying.

$30 bucks for a day and your dog gets socialized and then comes home and sleeps like a rock. Or at least mine does. Perfect for an all day ride to the IMBA Epic Hall of Fame Epic Brown County State Park.

The new bike seems to have worked out for you.

France Park in Logansport is about 30 minutes away up US-35. It has the foundations for a trail system in place and could probably benefit from a motivated group of riders who would want to make improvements.

Westwood / Re: Trail Conditions

Westwood was good today. The tread was perfect. One muddy spot and that was all. The weeds were mostly good. The section on the east side between the power line crossing and the floating bridge was getting rough with low honeysuckle, etc. Wished I had brought my mini clippers along with me. The grass in some of the open areas (along the Big Dig, power line crossing and  the upper part of the dam) was getting long as well.

I did notice a few reroutes where I could see new bench cutting done. Interesting to see technique differences between the original trail (built about 10 years ago?) and the reroutes.

Overall a great ride and workout.

Any updates? Thinking about making a return trip to Westwood tomorrow morning for the first time in 3 years.

Cool photos, thanks!

Cool! I'll make sure to get out for a few of these. Always a fun, and often, humbling time. And Dave is right, this will give your fitness a nice boost.

On another short track front, does anyone have any contacts at Marian University? It would be cool to have a break off week where short track is held on their course at the Cycloplex. I think they had a college race there last year. Could be a neat evening to have track racing, bmxing, and short track MTB racing all going on at once.

In other news, bar ends have made a comeback and are now the must have fashion item for mountain biking in 2014 per a recent poll by a distinguished mountain biking periodical.

It was a fun race. Wanted top 20 and got 18th so that was a good feeling. We went clockwise, and hit Mitchell and Hillenbrand first. Combs was bad, at least worse than the past three years of Gravel Grovel experience. We skipped Callahan in favor of dropping south onto SR 58. In looking at the results, it appears Callahan was the key for many of the top teams. Id like to know how its conditions compared to Combs and Nebo. We ended by cutting off of McPike onto Trail 80 which was in bad shape. Lots of mud and limbs. Overall, we were happy with our route and the results. Looking forward to next year, although I will stick with my mtb + carbon fork.
Out of curiosity, what type of trail surface is Trail 90 and what were the conditions on the trail?
