Advocacy / Lebanon Bike Park Community Workshop!
« on: January 03, 2020, 04:57:12 PM »
Important event for Those who are interested in Developing trails for NICA teams and those who live near Lebanon Indiana.

The City of Lebanon is developing a mountain bike park, with one of the goals being to build a NICA race course. NICA courses with often need to be built in urban areas without the natural terrain HMBA typically works with.

They have hired Hilride, the Pro Trail Building company with experience building bike parks including Griffin Bike Park in Indiana.

If you live near Lebanon, then please come out on January 28th. Even if you can only attend the evening Community sessions.

If you are involved with a NICA team anywhere in Indiana, Please try to attend the whole event. This is a chance to see how a pro trail builder would approach and plan for a World Class NICA facility.

SAVE THE DATE: Tuesday January 28th, 2020 6-8 PM

We would like to invite you all to participate in the planning and development of the facility. The workshop will be held in the conference room adjacent to the City Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 401 S. Meridian St.

Please join us for a conversation with local cycling and mountain bike enthusiasts as well the design professionals who are assisting the City in the planning and development of this project.

Lebanon, Indiana.

If you have any further questions or would like to become involved, please feel free to reach out to me at your convenience.

Some pictures from the dedication of the Weed Patch Trail.

From the Department of Nature Resources.

We were glad to dedicate the Weed Patch Trail today, which provides an additional 2.4 miles of riding for mountain bikers and walking for hikers at Brown County State Park. Thanks to the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association for their leadership in completing this trail.

HMBA board members joined DNR staff and members of the community today to officially dedicate the new 'Weed patch' trail at Brown County State Park. State Parks Director Dan Bortner was very complimentary of HMBA's contributions and continuing relationship with IDNR in his remarks. Thank you Dan!

If you live near Eagle Creek and in Janice McHenry city-council district Crista Carlino is running against her. Janice has been opposed to Mtb in Eagle Creek Park.
I talked with Crista's husband and he told me she had heard of Ms. McHenry's opposition and she was for Mtb in ECP.

Two questions:

1.  Will we need a Hoosier national forest permit or is that included in the registration?

2. Anymore updates on confirmed demo manufacturers?

Thank you!

The National and State Forest Passes are included.

Confirmed demos for the weekend include:
Giant/Liv, Ibis, Pivot, Tantrum, Trek and Specialized!

That's a great question!  Does Big Woods provide a non-alchohol option for those who buy tickets (Saturday, Full event, ect.), but don't drink beer?

Thanks

Yes, just make sure to ask if you don't see any.

And will it connect all the way over to Hesitation Point or just to Bobcat by the road?
Right now ends at the road by Bobcat.  Make sure to sign up for the Big Woods Brown County, to help fund future expansion.

Does Weedpatch have signage at the trail heads yet?  Will it be officially open for the Epic weekend?

There is a temporary sign.  Itís behind the Firetower. A hiking trail goes to the right and Weedpatch is to the left.  Yes open for the Epic!

Time to get signed up for the Big Woods Brown County Epic!

I rode Weedpatch (our newest trail) for the first time this past weekend.  Was great.  I'd say like Hobbs Hollow "lite."

The Big Woods Brown County Epic is our biggest fundraiser.  Let's get the trail building machine going!

The registration fees seem pretty hefty and I suspect part of it is because you are also buying beer, which leaves non-drinkers subsidizing others' alcohol consumption.  Even the Saturday ride only option includes beer tickets.    Is there a non-alcohol option?

Hi, actually Big Woods is our title sponsor.  They provide the Food and Beer as part of the sponsorship (at no charge to HMBA!).  This is our biggest fund raiser of the year.  Pays for building and maintaining the trails.
