Brown County State Park / Re: Report Trail Issues« on: July 19, 2018, 03:28:57 PM »
Schooner had numerous trees down in all different sizes couple nights ago, I know it's not used a lot but those were impassible without climbing over or around

I would have more of a use for 29" weirdly, our 27.5 bikes are good on tires for awhile

For sale I have a pair of brand new 2018, 27.5 x 2.4 black chili compound protection tires, these were mounted with sealant and then immediately removed NEVER rode; so they are without original packaging. $80 for both. New MSRP is $140 for the pair

Brown County State Park / Re: BCSP Trail Conditions« on: May 29, 2018, 03:33:15 PM »
Trails were great condition Saturday. Lot's of rookies out there.
Lots of new people pedaling full effort coming at us, and not yielding any room...even to us when we were climbing. More than I ever remember before. I clipped multiple peoples handlebars and I was off the side of the single track; because they were still in the middle of the trail going full effort/pedal. People seriously need to be more considerate to other trail users, stop pedaling when passing, and give room! Yield to climbers, it's super easy. 7

Tech Bench / Re: Crank arm flew off! Hollowtech ii XT« on: April 25, 2018, 11:51:39 AM »
Let a mechanic at a shop take a look at it to see if it's damaged beyond repair first. They will know. Let same shop order you a replacement arm if the splines are good to go. Those two arm bolts need to be torqued to spec before riding (only after setting the outside cap pre-load)

Tech Bench / Re: What's Everyone's Favorite Tire« on: January 16, 2018, 12:54:03 PM »
Anything Bontrager Team Issue. They are light, fast, and hold up well. Pick your tread depending on terrain aggression level. We have Team Issue XR1, XR2, XR3, and SE4 on our various MTB's. The lower the number the shallower the tire and more XC "race" level it becomes. SE4 is a bit wild for Indiana but on a proper long travel bike it's fantastic for traveling. I don't have any experience with the lesser model Bontrager tires. I have only used the Team Issue.
If you aren't traveling and riding chunky trails in other states try the XR2 or XR3. They do it all just fine. XR1 or 0 get pretty wishy-washy in certain scenarios. 11
Tech Bench / Re: Cold weather gloves« on: November 15, 2017, 12:54:21 PM »
A good quality glove works great. Not been a fan of Bar Mitts. Maybe if we lived in the UP Michigan no Indiana. I have the lobster claw style Bontrager gloves, they are too warm if it's anything above 25'. You definitely lose some feeling of the shifting and brake levers but you get used to it quick. I also recently picked up some Louis Garneau 5 finger gloves that have worked into the 20's just fine with wind, they have a flap that pops out of the top of the glove and covers your fingers if need be mid ride as an additional layer. Great lever feel there. 3rd pair of cold winter gloves are the Bontrager Velocis that seem to work great in the low 40's to low 30's. I chose depending on what I'm riding, and how cold/windy it gets.
