smallish tree down on bobcat that can probably be handled with a hand saw. it's not too far in from the entrance closest to Aynes.  it looked too big to just drag off the trail.

bobcat, limekiln and walnut were great yesterday evening, so trails should be good to go until it rains next

Yellowwood State Forest / Re: Crooked Creek Trail Conditions
« on: June 22, 2017, 02:28:28 PM »
Couple of big trees down on crooked creek;  from 10 oclock line starting point and heading down to lake, first tree is near the beginning of the biggest climb on the trail and it's a large trunk about 4 feet up off the ground going across the trail.  Second is towards the bottom, probably 3/4 of the way down the trail and is a crown that's crashed across the trail.  it's a big mess and I didn't see anything I could move out of the way by hand last night.

On lucas hollow there is a big trunk lying across a switch back when you start climbing out if you are going clockwise (dropping in at first entrance).

rode bobcat, GV and HP Wed evening and they were great.  Passed Fett and crew on GV and counted 31 spots they cleared for drainage!  Big thanks to you folks.

Yellowwood State Forest / Re: Really dug the trails here

Just want to pop in and say that the new trails here are really great.  Thanks for the awesome work and vision! Every time a new trail goes up (Yellowwood or BCSP), it seems unique in style and gives us something brand new we didn't have before.

anyone know how this mtb pass is going to be checked?  will they check it at the gate if you have a bike on your car, and will they ask for everyone in the vehicle to show a pass?

sorry if this info was posted somewhere and I missed it.

Awesome to hear you saw some trails in RRG. The fellow that runs Red River Outdoors (cabins/guiding) I know has been working on some mtb trails around the area. If you are wondering about riding down there, he should definitely know what's up.
I'll probably be adding some riding to my next climbing trip - looking forward to seeing some trails in that area for sure.

Rants and Raves / Re: platform vs. clipless
« on: December 13, 2012, 08:38:25 PM »
was all clipless for my first 1.5 seasons riding and then I tried Schooner.  getting clipped back in while starting in the middle of a pile of rocks was too tricky so I got some platforms to avoid walking my bike through sections that I got stuck on.  I ride platforms if I'm hitting schooner and clipless other wise now.  Maybe someday I'll be good enough to ride schooner clipless but for now I like being able to get my foot down quickly and then start riding again without having to clip in.

I do fear for my shins since I recently upgraded my platforms however!

Tech Bench / Re: Hayes brakes
« on: December 07, 2012, 10:13:59 AM »
probably not the kind of feedback you are looking for but i bought a used bike three years ago that has Hayes first generation brakes on them and they have been totally problem free and work great.  I don't know if they build em like they used to but I love my old Hayes. I ride a hard tail with front suspension fork at BCSP and HNF.

Chainlove.com has had a Lights & Motion stella 300 setup for under 300 bucks for sale lately - check out that site for some good deals.

I rode last night with an old L&M vega 120 on my bars and a nice Black Diamond headlamp on my helmet and it was great.  Got the vega for $45 bucks off chainlove.com last year.

Rode trail 20 to 18 to 4 last evening and conditions were superb! didn't have to get off the bike once except on some steep climbs  ;)
the make-over they did on 4 last year is hardening up and riding ok now.

Rode Nebo last week and it was glorious! I thought the trail conditions were excellent and it's a clear ride all the way.  not sure what you were expecting KKeg but that's as good as it gets out there and that's super duper in my book.
